tune of vxfs filesystem

Dear All,

$ uname -a
HP-UX B.11.11 U 9000/800

$ model
9000/800/rp3440

when i tried to create a dummy 1gb file it is taking morethan 1min.

Can we tune by using vxtunefs to reduce the time for the creation.

When i was creating a 1gb dummy file the I/O statistics are:

What command you using to make file?
which vxfs version and OJFS version.

Hi,

Can you please paste the output of

# vxtunefs

I hope it can be accomplished by changing write_pref_io parameter.

It's not 100% sure that the FS layer is what you need to finetune. What is your setup? Do you have Mirrordisk/UX? Is this fs residing on an LVM volume at all? Or do you have HW raid implemented?

I allocated 1Gig to our FS that has software RAID 1 on the LVM level and I got the same ~1 minute as result:

# time prealloc asdf $((1024*1024*1024))

real 1m10.06s
user 0m0.10s
sys 0m3.96s
#

1) is relative
2) depends on several factors that you must consider when finetuning
