Hello,
i am trying to add a network printer to my UX machine, and i get 'cant open member file' error message,. I have checked
/etc/lp has permissions of 755, and an owner/group of bin.
any other issues?

# ll -d /etc/lp
==> perm. should be 755
==> The owner should be "lp".
Otherwise use SAM to restore the print spooler configuration to a known good state.

Solution
hi,
if this is a network printer, i would suggest using Jetadmin to install the printer.
(IIRR, Sam too uses jetadmin if linked correctly).
Make sure, your printer is accessible from
the network (ping it). Then check whether
you have jetadmin software installed
swlist |grep -i jetadmin.
(or ll /opt/hpnp/bin/jetadmin )
Run /opt/hpnp/bin/jetadmin , which will guide
you through the process.
