unable to display degree symbol correctly

Hi,

I am having problem to display " 55??C " when run SQL*PLUS query from Exceed Xstart Client session. I am getting "55????C" instead.

But if I start dtterm session and run the SQL*PLUS then I am able to display 55??C on my terminal correctly.

For both sessions I set LANG=univ.utf8 and NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.utf8 . My default SHELL=/usr/ksh.

What is the different between dtterm session and Exceed Xstart client session? How to make Xstart client session to be able to display degree symbol correctly?

This is one of the reasons I don't like Exceed--its terminal emulation has a lot to be desired. I don't think there's a way to fix this the way you want to. You should try a different X server, or do what I did and move to Citrix MetaFrame for Unix.

Start Exceed -> Xconfig ->Input -> Keyboard ?

Try a few ?

I see from Exceeds Xconfig help that you can modify any of the supplied keyboard files ....

scenario :

You want to create a kb file for mathematical symbols, or alphabets such as Arabic,Cyrillic,Greek, or Hebrew ... might be worth a go ?
