Unable to perform ignite backup
Hi guys,
I faced problems using ignite backup command:
make_tape_recovery -I -a /dev/rmt/0mn -x inc_entire=vg00
Errors seen:
* Creating System Configuration.
* /opt/ignite/bin/save_config -f
/var/opt/ignite/recovery/2007-07-17,10:46/system_cfg vg00
* Backing Up Volume Group /dev/vg00
* /usr/sbin/vgcfgbackup /dev/vg00
Volume Group configuration for /dev/vg00 has been saved in /etc/lvmconf/vg00.conf
* Creating Map Files for Volume Group /dev/vg00
* /usr/sbin/vgexport -p -m /etc/lvmconf/vg00.mapfile /dev/vg00
vgexport: Volume group "/dev/vg00" is still active.
* Backing Up Volume Group /dev/vg01
* /usr/sbin/vgcfgbackup /dev/vg01
Volume Group configuration for /dev/vg01 has been saved in /etc/lvmconf/vg01.conf
* Creating Map Files for Volume Group /dev/vg01
* /usr/sbin/vgexport -p -m /etc/lvmconf/vg01.mapfile /dev/vg01
vgexport: Volume group "/dev/vg01" is still active.
* Creating Control Configuration.
* Creating Archive File List
ERROR: list_expander returned an error.
ERROR: Failed to get the archive size and the list of files which will be in
archive.
I already umount filesystems in vg01. But when i tried to deactivate vg01, it shows device busy.
The ignite version from swlist is Ignite-UX-11-00 B.2.5.136 HP-UX Installation Utilities for Installing 11.00 Systems
Thanks for your help.
regards,
julep

Re: Unable to perform ignite backup
Shalom julep,
This is a pretty old version of Ignite.
You probably need to boot the system and then deactivate vg01.
Your command should perform the backup without problems on vg01, since its excluded.
Maybe you have a raw disk or something active on vg01.
A newer version of Ignite might help.

Re: Unable to perform ignite backup
I am able to deactivate vg01 after amending the fstab by commenting out vg01 after rebooting the server. But still unable to perform the ignite backup. I will try to install the new version of ignite package and try again.
Thanks a lot
