unable to print after upgrade to 11.0

Hello:

I have just upgraded from HP-UX 10.2 to 11.0, and now I am unable to print through our PCs.
All the NFS mount Daemons such as mountd, pcnfsd etc, are running, in the /etc/exports file
there is an entry of /usr/spool.

The odd thing is, I can print doing just lps from the system, and if I go through the PCs Network Neighborhood and point it to the server, it shows me all my printers, then I try to ?attach? or install it, I get an error its not accessible. If I use the add printer option, it will come back with and ask me log in, but denies me access. I am not exactly sure where the fault is, it seems that its some sort of access issue but I can not narrow it down.

Reinstall the printers

Chris is right, try reinstalling the printers. This is a common problem from an upgrade. Also, have you got a recent 11 GR patch bundle installed ?

Hi there:

Well, I have reinstalled several of the printers, they are in Jetadmin.

The date of the patches are June 2000.

Just seems so odd, that I can see them, I can print using lp off the server, but off the PCs I can see them, try to use them, but it says off line, or the printer is unavailable, even though I can see them in Network Neighborhood.

any other ideas?

Seeing as you had no problems printing to10.20 how about renaming the lp/lpr binary to something else and copy over these binaries from 10.20 to your 11 box, restart lpsched, and see if it now works. Theres is no problem running 10.20 binaries on 11.

Problem solved.

. the /var/spool/lp directory didn?t have r permissions for the world, I don?t know why, and I know when I did the upgrade I didn?t change any permissions that I am aware of, so I never thought to look closely at this. I did reinstall printers, and even reinstalled jetadmin for the sake of things, then I started trouble shooting it step by step and gave a r access Thank you all for your help and responses. you wont believe what I found it does sound like a stupid over look on my part, but I never have thought to look at this till this morning for the world on the above directory and now I can print, am just puzzled why something like that would have changed.
