Re: Unable to Qualify Domain Name

Put your system name and its FQN in the /etc/host file
127.0.0.1 localhost loopback
system-name system-name.domain.com

Re: Unable to Qualify Domain Name

Another thing to verify is that your /etc/nsswitch.conf file is configured to look in /etc/hosts for the hostname information. If you're not using DNS or some other name service for hostname resolution, then be sure that your hosts entry looks like this:

hosts: files

If you're using some other name service like DNS, NIS, NIS+, LDAP then be sure to configure the "hosts" nsswitch.conf entry appropriately to reference those name servers. The man page for nsswitch.conf explains how to do this.

Regards,

Dave

Re: Unable to Qualify Domain Name

Yes man
Pls verify your /etc/hosts file.

Check for the entries
"127.0.0.1 localhost loopback"
hostname hostname.domain.com

eg:

127.0.0.1 localhost loopback
10.11.120.225 sk sk.hcl.com
