Also I wouldn't set ip address to 127.0.0.1 - it's the standard for loopback - maybe call it 1.2.3.4 but I would change it, too.

So you used a core OS CD from Mar 2004, but when prompted for the options CD used one from Sep 2003?
I could be wrong, but I suspect this could be your problem... It's a long long time since I did a 11.00 install, but I'm pretty sure I *always* used CDs that came together from the same release... the way the install is "broken" makes this look even more likely to me...

I opened the box, made sure all teh cards were seated correctly powered up and reinstalled hp-ux.
That seems to have taken care of it. Thanks again.
