Unexplain symtom

Hi,

I experienced the following weird symtom:

Normal condition:
Pkg 1 running in node 1
pkg 2 running in node 2
able to access both pkg from another subnet

To install HBA driver in node 2:
Pkg 2 failed over to node 1 successfully

Now:
Pkg 1 running in node 1
pkg 2 running in node 1
able to access both pkg from another subnet

While installing the HBA driver (reboot required):
Able to ping pkg 1 from another subnet
Not able to ping pkg 2 from another subnet but no problem within the same subnet

During the pinging:
check router arp, it showed pkg 2 floating IP is on old mac address (ie belongs to node 2)

Problem last for around 10 mins and pkg 2 is back in operation with replied to ping again. Its floating IP is on the old mac address (ie node 2)

Questions:
1) Is the problem due to the reboot for not able to reply to ping for pkg2. If so, is it normal since it already failed over to node 1.

2) Is it due to the routing table in the router not able to update to the latest entries. If so, it should not replied the ping command forever and not after 10 mins since the entry is wrong

Thanks in advance for any pointer,
YC

Re: Unexplain symtom

Hi

If the problem is after the reboot it souds like a missing route so check :-

1. netconf for route
2. netstat -rn
