Unidentified cpu type
Hi all,
I am trying to restore ignite backup which was taken on rp8400 to rp8420.But after
restoration server is not getting rebooted
stating unidentified cpu type.
what should be done

Hi Prasad,
The CPU type in both is different. 8400 has a PARISC 8700 CPU whereas 8420 has dual core PARISC 8800. This was very much expected. You should try doing a fresh os install or restore ignite taken from some other 8420 server.
You can go for using ignite golden image as well. Just see discussion in this thread also.

You probably used an old version of Ignite/UX. The make_tape_recovery (and network version) are very sensitive to hardware features. So before you make a recovery tape, always download the latest version, especially if your current versin is more than 6 monmths old.
