Solution
It sounds as though you've installed Oracle 8.1.6 on the server.
Oracle seems to insist on installing Legato Storage Manager when you run the root.sh script. If you don't want it then you can simply use swremove to remove it (run 'swremove' then select Legato from the installed list). Tip kill all the lsm daemon processes first otherwise swremove fails.

Re: Unknow error message - L class
Check your $oraclehome .profile, crontab file and installation script of the oracle 8.1.6.

Re: Unknow error message - L class
I'm using Legato Networker and I've had this message a couple of times:
What it means is that the Legato Savegroup has tried to begin a backup session, but has terminated because there already was a backup session active for that savegroup.
This could be a session that is left "hanging" in a previous backup session or an active backup.
I'm not familiar with the Storage Manager so I can't tell you where to check for active savegroups, but I'm quit sure that this is the place to start looking for the cause of your message.
