unknown product number for FDDI card
I have a DCL system running HP-UX 10.20
There is a EISA FDDI Lan card installed with the driver being reported in ioscan as fddi0.
Under normal conditions the driver type should be present in the description (ie.. INP0400 or something akin to that)
The description shows "HP EISA FDDI"
Any idea why this identifies this way?
or which card this actually is?
it could be an A3659A but have not had one identify like this before.
Thanks

Re: unknown product number for FDDI card
Hi Ross,
The system will report whatever the card's CMOS entry gives it. It's a function of the card - not the OS.
Hard to tell the model # as a lot of FDDI cards used the fddi0 driver IIRC.
Rgds,
Jeff

Re: unknown product number for FDDI card
Hi,
Well. If it is not showing as "unknown|unclaimed" in the ioscan or then the driver is the suspect. Did you physically look at the card?.
But if it is working, then I wouldn't be worried and treat it as a bug with that driver.

You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don't try
