update 11i v2

Ok, the way I read it is, you cant upgrade any Kclass server to 11i. Am I correct in syaing that?

Re: update 11i v2

Robert,

Not at all. Several of the K-class models can do 11i. See attached matrix.

Re: update 11i v2

So you need to be able to do 64-bit. Is that the deciding factor?

Re: update 11i v2

Not really all Kclass cant run 11i BUT somme can ONLY support 32bit:
Kx00, Kx10, Kx20

The others support both 32 and 64 bit OS

Re: update 11i v2

Older K classes that use 32 bit only will not work.

My 11 v2 paperwork from HP said K is not supported. On a practical level 64 bit K class boxes will work with the release.

11 v2 is a 64 bit only release, so I'm told.

There are a number of threads covering the details of these type of questions.

Re: update 11i v2

Just a clarification on HP-UX 11i v2:

11i v2 has 64 bit support only (NO 32 bit support).

11i v2 LR has Itanium support only (No PA-RISC).

New 11i v2 Sept 04 OE (I think; confirm exact
release OE name with HP rep) has both Itanium
and PA-RISC (64 bit only) support.

Re: update 11i v2

Oops.. After sending my last post, I realised that
it's probably not very clear; So here is it again:

11i v2 "original" release :
--------------------------------
64 bit support only (NO 32 bit support).
Itanium support Only (No PA-RISC).

11i v2 Sept 04 OE (confirm exact OE name
from HP rep) aka HP-UX 11.23PI:
--------------------------------------------
Support both Itanium and PA-RISC (64bit only)

Sorry 'bout the last post :-(

Re: update 11i v2

Robert,

For 11i v2, the Installing and Updating guide shows the following servers as not supported (at: http://docs.hp.com/en/5990-8144/ch02s04.html):

PA-RISC Servers:
All 32-bit servers (including 32-bit A-Class servers A180 and A180C)
All D-Class servers
All R-Class servers
All E-Class servers
All K-Class servers
All T-Class servers
All V-Class servers

Therefore k-class is definitely NOT supported on 11i v2. Hope this answers the question.

Robert,

In my prior message, make sure to remove the :) at the end of the URL (clicking on it in my previous message returns an error). The URL that works is:

Re: update 11i v2

Cheryl,

Thanks for the link (I've been searching and searching and searching . . . ). However, that matrix doesn't seem to address the 11i V2 question - it, in fact, seems to indicate that the K-class will run 11i, just as my old matrix did. Will there be a new new link?

Re: update 11i v2

Pete - I am not sure if they will be updating the link to include the new hw and os but most everyone I've talked to wants just that.

We've submitted the feedback that it would be nice to keep the information consolidated.
