Update EMC powerpath on Cluster Service Guard

Hi Guys.

I going to update my EMC powerpath from 5.1 to 5.2 on cluster Service Guard. Can I move all packages to node B and update the powerpath on Node A?

I appreciate your help.

Thanks.

Re: Update EMC powerpath on Cluster Service Guard

Yes, you can.

To eliminate the possibility of package failover while you're in mid-upgrade, you probably should run "cmhaltnode node_A" after moving the packages to node B, and disable Serviceguard startup at system boot time by editing /etc/rc.config.d/cmcluster on node A.

Once you've completed the upgrade, rebooted Node A and verified that the new version of PowerPath works, you can run "cmrunnode" on Node A to make it join the cluster again, and edit /etc/rc.config.d/cmcluster so that Serviceguard will start automatically at boot time again. (Or just enable Serviceguard auto-start and reboot one more time, to verify that system can start up completely without any errors.)
