Updating a L-2000 11.0 OS

I have a L2000 that has not been updating since June 2000. Is it ok in just using the Dec. 2002 support plus CD to update the server? What other recommendations should I follow to make this server current?

Brian,

The Dec 2002 bundle should be good. The only other thing to consider is application patches (Fortran or MirrorDisk, for example) which aren't included. Search the patch database with your application name.

As a general patch bundle you should be fine. If you have any applications like Omniback that requires SS patches, you might have to look them up yourself though in the ITRC patch database.

Don't search for a special MirrorDisk patch... it's just the LVM commands patch, which is part of the QPK anyway.

Re: Updating a L-2000 11.0 OS

December 2002 patch bundle includes all patch bundles released between when you last updated and today.

It is a good starting point, but not an ending point.

If you are using Java 1.2 1.3 or 1.4 there are additional patches to get at http://www.hp.com/products1/unix/java/infolibrary/patches.html

There are additional application specific patches for Oracle that are not in the patch bundles.

Patch bundles are high quality three star patches. It is quite possible for security, omniback or above mentioned issues you will need to seek out and install other patches on top of the December patch bundle.

I guess MirrorDisk wasn't a very good example, Dietmar. Thanks for pointing it out.
