Upgrading from Service Guard A.11.09 to A.11.13 Problems

Problems with codewords.

I would like to upgrade my version of MC/ServiceGuard but the method for updating is to install the new version of ServiceGuard over the top.

I cannot unlock the software on the appropriate CD as I cannot obtain new codewords as the previous version has already obtained codewords.

I though that the swinstall software would detect that I allready have A.11.09 on the systems and allow the upgrade to A.11.13.

Any ideas? Any one else had this problem?

Is the only solution to talk with the codeword peaople?

Thanks,

Jason

The only way to unlock the software is to obtain a valid codeword, there's no check for upgrading software you've already got installed.

Hi Jason,

yes you have to go in contact with the codeword people. Each protected application on the CDs must have a special codeword. The Codeword is locked to the Partnumber of the CD and the System-ID, only one of this will not give you access.

if you have the software License certificate then you can get the codeword from

http://licensing.hp.com/welcome.slm

Previously installed application codewords are stored here

/var/adm/.codewords

During upgrade you need to get the codeword with the upgrade license certificate from the mentioned site above
