URGENT: Disks unknown on new scsi card K250

I have installed a new scsi card # 28696A in my K250.
The card is recognized and claimed but the drives that are connected to it are showing unknown and unclaimed.
I have two Jamaca's connected to different channels that are working fine.

Here is the ioscan of the section with the drives that are not working. How do I make the system recognize the disks.
ext_bus 6 10/4/4 scsi3 CLAIMED INTERFACE HP 28696A - Wide SCSI ID=7
target 12 10/4/4.12 target CLAIMED DEVICE
disk 21 10/4/4.12.0 sdisk UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN SEAGATE ST336704LC
target 13 10/4/4.13 target CLAIMED DEVICE
unknown -1 10/4/4.13.0 UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN SEAGATE ST336704LC
target 14 10/4/4.14 target CLAIMED DEVICE
unknown -1 10/4/4.14.0 UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN SEAGATE ST336704LC
target 15 10/4/4.15 target CLAIMED DEVICE
unknown -1 10/4/4.15.0 UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN SEAGATE ST336704LC

As you can see, I tried to force the disk at address 12 but it still is not working.

Thanks,

Those look like Seagate 36 GB drives? All of my drives that are in Jamaicas (9 and 18 GB) are using the disc3 driver. Make sure that is installed in your kernel and try again.

Yes they are 36 gig drives and I do have the scsi3 driver installed. I needed it to activate the fast wide card that the drives are attached to.

Not scsi3, DISC3. There is a difference. The scsi cards use the scsi drivers and the disk drives use disc drivers. Even my CD-ROM on this machine is using the DISC3 driver.

Here's a sample ioscan from my machine:

disk 62 4/44.1.0 disc3 CLAIMED DEVICE SEAGATE ST318275LC
disk 63 4/44.2.0 disc3 CLAIMED DEVICE SEAGATE ST318275LC
disk 64 4/44.3.0 disc3 CLAIMED DEVICE SEAGATE ST318275LC

Re: URGENT: Disks unknown on new scsi card K250

Ok, great, I will try the disk3 driver tonight.

I'll let you know in the morning if it works.

Here is another part of the question. I used ioscan to force an sdisk driver to the disk at address 10/4/4.12.0. How do I remove the driver so that when I set the correct disk3 driver, it will not force 12 to sdisk? I tried rmsf -H 10/4/4.12.0 but it is not removing the driver.

Thanks

Re: URGENT: Disks unknown on new scsi card K250

Not sure about that. What you may have to do is get the disc3 driver installed and then use ioscan again to force disc3 to that particular disk. I don't think there is a way to remove a driver once it is there.

If someone else can prove me wrong, please, feel free!!!!

Re: URGENT: Disks unknown on new scsi card K250

if you have them in the ioscan, the system sees the disks. So what you will have to do now is install the device filesfor them. by doing an insf -e, you will install drivers for all unclaimed devices. See if that helps.

Got it! Thanks to all that answered. When I installed the scsi3 driver, the drives show up just fine. I imported the vg's and all is well.
