Re: URGENT Help we can not connect

Hi Ahmed,

please provide more information:
Do you try to connect via telnet/ssh or something else?
Do the user see some messages when beeing denied to connect?
Are there some corresponding messages in /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log?

Re: URGENT Help we can not connect

Shalom Ahmed,

log on as root.

tail -f /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log

Attempt to log on from another workstation as another user.

See error message. Post or take appropriate action.

Re: URGENT Help we can not connect

what is there in,

1) /var/adm/inetd.sec
2) /etc/profile or $HOME/.profile for applmgr and oracle.
3) grep 'oracle' /etc/passwd
grep 'applmgr' /etc/passwd

This may helps to resolve the problem. It is always better to stop logging with that user like oracle and applmgr.

Re: URGENT Help we can not connect

Hi Ahmed,

Check .profile of applmgr and try to debug.

# cd ~applmgr
# cat .profile

Check the commands in the last of the file.
Try yo put hash (#) and try logggin in.
Then you can find the problem.

Raj.

Re: URGENT Help we can not connect

Hi,

If you press Ctrl+C for a couple of times do you get your prompt.
When you do a bdf do you see all your nfs-shares?
This could be caused by your nfs-client/nfs-server.

Is this server a nfs-client or nfs-server.
Try to login as root and stop the nfs-client.

Re: URGENT Help we can not connect

When you try to telnet and try to login, does it give any error message?
Do you see anything in syslog?

Re: URGENT Help we can not connect

the /oranas is working correctly?
cd /oranas/oracle
touch testfile
rm testfile

if that works you could mv /oranas/oracle/.profile /oranas/oracle/.profile.error
and try to login again.

The last thing to do is to edit /etc/passwd and change oracle homedir to /home/oracle and se if it helps.

I would think you have some issues with /oranas since that is the only commen point for the users.

What does a dmesg tell you?
