Re: URGENT- my server is not on network

Hi,

Apparantly you're on the GSP (Guardian Service Processor).

Just type :
CO

to get the console. From there on you should be able to login. To get back into GSP, type CTRL-B.

From the GSP you're able to remotely reboot or TOC your system.
You'll have to go into the CommandMenu (CM) to do this.

Good luck.
Jan.

Re: URGENT- my server is not on network

If you do an :
LI

You will get a list of the commands.

Then either do a :
TC
in case you want to create a crashdump of a hung system and want to send the crashdump of to HP.

Or do a :
RS
To reboot the system...

Re: URGENT- my server is not on network

Have been working myself...

Not really familiar with systems divided up into partitions.

That's one thing I can't help you with.

Which partition you're using should be information already available to you.
If the system has multiple partitions, I wouldn't be able to tell you how to identify the one you need to reboot.

Sorry.

Check here for HW partitioning info :

Re: URGENT- my server is not on network

I the machine only lists a single partition, select it, and the machine will reboot like you expect.

MP:CM> rs

This command resets the selected partition.

WARNING: Execution of this command irrecoverably halts all system
processing and I/O activity and restarts the selected
partition.

Part# Name
----- ----
0) ldsslcul21

Select a partition number:

In this case, selecting '0' will reset the partition after you confirm.

If there are multiple partitions, you have to select the one you want before proceeding:

MP:CM> rs

This command resets the selected partition.

WARNING: Execution of this command irrecoverably halts all system
processing and I/O activity and restarts the selected
partition.

Part# Name
----- ----
0) newhart
1) hope

Select a partition number:

In this case, selecting '1' will reboot the partition labeled 'hope', after confirning the selection.

Hope it helps

Re: URGENT- my server is not on network

Hi,

Allthough many details has been provided related to reseting the system from GSP. But is it actually required? Are you nit be able to login to system using "CO" (Console Option). A doubt that if you can login to console then reboot will change the situation.

What configuration has been done for LAN exactly. If you have assigned another IP of the same subnet to the other card than these could be a reason for this?

Re: URGENT- my server is not on network

HP-UX does not support two cards on same subnet. Did you do something like that??

Log onto GSP and check.
netfmt -f /var/adm/nettl.LOGxx
lanadmin -g "nm_id_of_card"
There is no substitute to HARDWORK
