URGENT: unable to resync backup media

Hi all,

We are running frecover from sam to pull data off tape on a dds3 drive on a C200 workstation. This drive is connected to the ultra wide port on the box. I think that this is the same channel that the primary drive is on.
I am receiving the error "unable to resync backup media" periodically.
I found the error searching the itrc but it was for command line listing of files on the device. This is happening on restore. The backup works fine. Just the restore is a problem.

Are you sure your DDS drive is on the ultra wide port ? C class workstations with internal DDS drives are on the Single Ended bus - not ultra wide. The internal disks are on the ultra wide bus.

We had problems with a DDS3 drive on a C200 similar to yours and it was fixed by replacing the drive. If you can test the restore on another server with a different DDS3 drive and it works fine then you know your drive needs replacement.

I'm having trouble reading in a LTO tape in a Ultrium unit. On a few files i'm receiving the following errors:

frecover(2114): read error from input device (I/O error)
frecover(2114): read error from input device (I/O error)
frecover(2113): unable to resync backup media

In the answer from Ed Mitchell he references at a document that maybe could help, but I'm not able to find it anywhere.
