Usage of prng_seed

Hi there,

Many docs mention that prng_seed is required in secured shell's activities. Well, prng_seed on two -- out of many hpux11.11 systems -- got refreshed daily if not hourly.

Q1: In what condition, this file is being re-generated?

Q2: Why only two? They're all running hpux11iV1, Secure Shell-A.04.30.014, and they dont have /etc/random.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Usage of prng_seed

If you do not have the system-wide krng enabled on your system, every time you make an ssh connection to the system, a new seed will be generated, replacing the old key file as far as I know

Re: Usage of prng_seed

Shalom,

This file effects the actual randomness of randomly generated numbers.

This is provided by the following package:

http://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=KRNG11I

It is built into 11.23 and 11.31 and needs to be added in to 11.11
