Use PSETS to Restrict Software License to Use N-Cpus?

Is it possible to use PSETS to restrict a software to use just a nymber of CPU's? We've a large server/nPartition (16cpus) and there is a software that needs to be installed in that same server - but we really would like to just have that sofware use say 2 CPU's because the cost of the license. Could PSETS make this possible or do we have to straighten this out with the software vendor?

Yes you can do this with psets, but I would check with the software vendor about their licensing. To be honest I doubt they'd sell you a cheaper license just because of psets but you never know - depends how good your procurement department is!

You can use PSETS to restrict to any no. of CPUs, and is possible using PRM 2.0 and onwards. You can discuss with the vendor for the licensing issue whether they will acccept for the same.

Okay, but does PSETS require PRM to work? I thought PSETS are supposed to be part of HPUX11i while PRM is only needed to make PSETS work better alongside IO and network bandwidth allocations?
