Dear All,
I have NIS user created in Sun which has 9 chars.When logging on to HP machines alone the system says invalid user name and not prompt for password.
How to solve this.

When using NIS, no need to create the users on client machine. At the end of passwd and group file of NIS clinet manke entry +::
