Using Ignite on Virtual machines.
Hi All,
I need some help.
We have one Itanium server called BHLUKSAP2.
We are running number of virtual server instances on BHLUKSAP2.
I have build one sand virtual machine called BHLUKD50.
BHLUKSAP2 is also our ignite server. When i initially build the virtual instance BHLUKD50, i used lanboot command to install ignite image onto my new sand server BHLUKd50.
Installation of HPUX 11 completed ok with only one error. Server is up and running ok.
I can logon to console of BHLUKD50 and do things.
But i dont have any network capabilities.
I think problem could be related to ignite restore.
So i have decided to perform another ignite restore. Does anyone how do i start ignite restore again. what is correct command. thanks

Re: Using Ignite on Virtual machines.
Is the Virtual network setup?
What's the output of (from VM Host BHLUKSAP2):
hpvmstatus -P BHLUKD50
Is there a vswitch?
If yes, on BHLUKD50, what do you get with:
ioscan -funC lan
lanscan

Re: Using Ignite on Virtual machines.
As Geoff mentioned, this could be a number of things.
1) did you create the Virtual Guest with LAN resources.
2) Did you configure the LAN properly during the ignite build, if not manually configure it.
ioscan will tell you if there is a lan device. if not then step back and assign the lan and vswitch on the VM Host. Then you can take the long road and re-ignite or the short road and configure the network.

Re: Using Ignite on Virtual machines.
Compare the hpvmstatus output with the results of "hpvmnet".
Is the configured vSwitch up and running?
Is there a configured vSwitch?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
