Re: using N4000 image on rp8400
If it is not the same hardware type as the server off of which the ignit image was taken, it most likely wont work.
Hope this helps.

Re: using N4000 image on rp8400
You will probably have problems with your device files, all the major and minor numbers will have to match exactly. There are just to many things that have to be the same. Simple rule of thumb with ignite is like hardware, like configuration (i.e. scsi id's ...)
Good Luck,
C

SolutionIf your rp8400 has Itanium chip, you need HP-UX 11.20 (11i v1.5). HP-UX 11.11 only run on PA chip not on Itanium.

Re: using N4000 image on rp8400
So is there a need to make an archive for a K580 and a N4000 for example?

Re: using N4000 image on rp8400
I don't think I'd want to risk trying, and possibly failing, to rebuild a K from a tape created on an N.
I'd just as soon make the separate and have the nice warm fuzzy feeling of knowing that if I need them, they'll work.

Re: using N4000 image on rp8400
Install all possible driver package on your current system if you want to be included in the Ignite image.
Also install the last Hardware Enable patch and Quality Patch bundle so your image will supporte any new/old hardware.
For me, I build an image from my K220 and I install it without any problem on a N4000.

Re: using N4000 image on rp8400
Another thing to remember if trying to build a K from an N's ignite image: 32 bit vs 64 bit.

And as others have said, just building from the ignite image will not be good enough. You will probably need some drivers and patches for hardware that is different.
