/var/run/ncpm_dns world write

Does any one have a pointer to what the socket
/var/run/ncpm_dns does and why it could or should be world writeable?
Thanks

OK, scratch the question of what it does... and I can kind of understand why it is world write. Why is it running when I don't have an ncpm and how can it be turned off?

Re: /var/run/ncpm_dns world write

It is a soon to be discontinued product, called Network Connection Policy Manager.

For more information on it, including configuration information, see the manual at

http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/J2776-90008/J2776-90008.html

If you do not want it to run upon start up, then set the START_NCPM=0 in /etc/rc.config.d/ncpm

Re: /var/run/ncpm_dns world write

ncpmd is not running on my machine, and I can't find what is setting up the socket.
Would setting up a ncpm.conf really have any effect?
I have grep-ped thru the /sbin/init.d looking for ncpm
with no effect.

How about in /etc/rc.config.d?
