vbscrpt telnet control - Any Ideas?
I am looking for a control I can use with vbscript. What I want to do is automatically telnet and log onto my HP-UX box, run a command and get the results of the command. From the result of my command I will add logic to take appropriate action and kick off more Unix commands depending on the result.
Is there such a control for vbscript?
I have seen some suggestions to use a scripted text file with existing commands but that assumes you know the output and no other action can be taken. I want everything to run in vbscript so I can add my logic.
Thanks
Gene Laoyan

Re: vbscrpt telnet control - Any Ideas?
I don't know about vbscript (I hope that doesn't mean Visual BASIC) but there is a Perl Net::Telnet module that will do pattern matching and will run on either a UNIX or Windows box as a telnet client.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

I should've been clearer. Sorry bout that. What I want is to be able to run this vbscript in Windows to help me automate some Unix admin tasks.
Thanks

Re: vbscrpt telnet control - Any Ideas?
Then you would be wiser to post your question in some Windows/Microsoft/VB forum because the question really has little to do with HP-UX or any other flavor of UNIX; however, the answer is still the same. Install one of the free perls for Windows (ActiveState?) and Net::Telnet will handle almost anything with Perl's extremely powerful regular expression handling.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
