Hello ,
My server has base vxvm installed .I have installed the system with vxvm not with lvm.
I have not done any veritas configuration yet.
What command set or gui that i need to use ..
1.to bring the root disk under volume manger control
2.root mirror
3.start vea gui.

VxVM consists of a server (vxsvc) and a client (vea). You must install and run the VxVM server on a UNIX machine running VxVM. You can install and run the VxVM client on any machine that supports the Java Runtime Environment.

Before you can use VxVM, you need to:

Install VxVM on the machine to be administered.

Install the VEA server and client on the machine to be administered. Run vxinstall to create the rootdg disk group and initialize at least one disk.

If users other than root need to access VEA, set up security to specify which users can run VEA.

If you plan to run the VEA client from a machine other than the machine to be administered, install the VEA client on the machine where the client will run.

Start the VEA server on the machine to be administered.

Start the VEA client.

Refer to the VERITAS Volume Manager Installation Guide for details on how to install and set up VEA.



Only users with appropriate privileges can run VxVM. Refer to the VERITAS Volume Manager Installation Guide for information on security and access permissions.

You can use VxVM to administer the local machine or a remote machine. The VxVM daemon (vxconfigd) and the VEA server (vxsvc) must be running on the machine to be administered. Once VxVM is installed, the VxVM server starts up automatically at system startup.
