VGEXPORT

Do I need to have a filesystem unmounted to do a vgexport? I get this error when exporting....

vgexport: Volume group "/dev/vg01" is still active.
vgexport: Couldn't export volume group "/dev/vg01".

Re: VGEXPORT

If you are using the preview option to vgexport then no, you don't have to unmount or deactivate the VG. (vgexport -p -m map vg??)

If you are just trying to blow away the VG configuration, then YES. To do that you should unmount all filesystem, deactivate the VG and the vgexport.
