Re: vmunix error (HP-UX 11.23i)
You have a dump device configured for a path that does not exist.
Perhaps you created a dump area on some storage where there were two paths and that situation no longer exists?
What has been done lately to dump configuration?

Re: vmunix error (HP-UX 11.23i)
You can view your dump path with
lvlnboot -v
You can change your dump path with
lvlnboot -d
lvlnboot -R
Dump is always /dev/vg00/lvol2 or the second logical volume on your boot disk. The 2nd logical volume is also used for swap, so swap and dump use the same logical volume, /dev/vg00/lvol2.
Refer to the man pages on 'savecrash' and 'crashconf' as well as the crash file save directory, usually located under /var/adm/crash.

Re: vmunix error (HP-UX 11.23i)
Please confirm if separate dump device is configured on your server. Usually swap and dump devices are same in default installtion.
Please check
#lvlnboot -v
and see disk device name in output.
Reason of this error is that device is comming from some storage box which is having redundant paths(multiple paths)available for disk.
check this with multipath utility available on your server.
HP SAN: Securepath
EMC SAN: Powerpath

Deepak
