VSP as an Ignite Server

Is it possible to have the VSP as an ignite server? I have a VSP server with VPARS on it, I'd like to run it as an ignite server for the VPARS on it and for other VSP/VPARS on the the network.

Is it possible?  Technically yes.  Is it recommended?  No.  The recommendation is that the VSP be solely dedicated to running VMs and vPars.  Page 20 of the v6.1.5 VM/vPars Admin guide discusses which software applications are supported to run on the VSP.  Ignite is not among them.

That said, you could certainly take one of the vPars running on the VSP and make it an Ignite server.

Re: VSP as an Ignite Server

Thanks that is what i thought. So I'll dedicate 1 VPAR as an ignite server. i intend to use that VPAR as a means to backup the VSP OS (as well as other VSP/VPARS), does that make sense? and then to write that ignite image to a DVD (as there is no locally attached tape solution). I'll need to do that to recover the VSP in case of DR
