VUE on HP-UX 11

Hi All,

Is it possible to still run VUE under HP-UX 11??

All the docs suggest migrating to CDE but i'd prefer to stick with VUE if i can.

Cheers

The information in this letter applies only to users of HP 9000
computer systems running the HP-UX operating environment.

Dear Valued Hewlett-Packard Customer:

In June 1996, we sent a letter informing you of the gradual
discontinuance of our HP VUE Graphical User Interface product as
it is being replaced with the standards compliant Common Desktop
Environment (HP CDE) product. As you have demonstrated, the
transition from HP VUE to HP CDE along with the use of our
VUE-to-CDE transition tools has been overwhelmingly positive.
This letter is to highlight how some of the new features
associated with our fully integrated CDE-based MPower//Web 1.0
product currently available with HP-UX 10.20 serve as follow on
products to the VUE-based software components being discontinued
with the early 1997 release of HP-UX 10.30.

The "Discontinued" column shown below lists the software
products that will no longer be available with the early 1997
discontinuance of HP VUE. The "Replacement" column lists the
evolutionary products available as you move from your VUE-based
HP-UX 9 or 10 environment to the CDE-based HP-UX 10 environment.
The MPower//Web 1.0 products are not direct replacement
products in that they offer new functionality like the Netscape
Navigator World Wide Web browser, an integrated 3D Model Viewer
for viewing of VRML and STL format models, and where added-value
is measured in terms of openess of functionality and
interoperability between networked heterogeneous systems.

Releases of HP-UX prior to the early 1997 release will continue
to offer HP VUE and its components shown in the discontinued
column above, until those HP-UX releases are discontinued at
some later date. These include HP-UX 10.20, HP-UX 10.10, HP-UX
10.01, HP-UX 9.07, and HP-UX 9.05.

For further information or assistance about the discontinuance
of HP VUE components, upgrade programs, or support, contact your
HP Account Representative or local HP sales office.

As is our custom at Hewlett-Packard, we feel that sharing our
technology and product plans with you early in the evolution of
your business requirements is another way of earning your trust
as a valued customer and partner. This insures that your
company's business critical operating environment will
experience few, if any, disruptions of service as you introduce
new products and technologies within that environment.

Yours sincerely,

Re: VUE on HP-UX 11

I have done it, everything but actually making it start on boot, I am working on creating a depot out of it, however seeing as it is HP's property, I cannot release it.

What I did is took an old 712 workstation, installed 10.20 on it, and then started grabbing all the functional components from it. Charles Butkus Charles.butkus@us.randstad.com

Why can't we just let VUE die?!?
