vxi/mxi card not being recognized

It appears that the vxi/mxi is in the system but I am unable to talk to it. When I give the command iclear vxi I get the following error

error id == 0: bad address

Vxi system where from HP T&M, so most
of the knowledge there are gone to Agilent.

But we can try;
Did you change anything to your system? Change the CPU board? Change something on your backplane?

Hi,
I have solved the problem it turns out that the MXI card itself was defective. I have replaced it with another one and it works now. I was using iclear to test the bus and I got the error mentioned. Now the I can start rfic software and it recognizes the instruments. So, the bottom line is that the bus controller was defective.
