vxvm duplicate rdsk entries

Hi guys i have just been asked by a DBA why there are two rdsk references and i am not an expert on vxvm and could not answer him accuratly, i believe that this is correct. but would like to have an answer for nim can anyone help, the find command pulls back this listed, any help in answering this will be rewarded.
/dev/vx/dsk/rootdg/vol7
/dev/vx/dsk/vol7
/dev/vx/rdsk/rootdg/vol7
/dev/vx/rdsk/vol7

the only thing i can think is we use a ignite image to biuld servers and thought the /dev/vx/rdsk/vol7 may be part of this and therefore not a problem.
regards
Andrew

Re: vxvm duplicate rdsk entries

These are the rootdg (disk group) entries for newer versions of VxVM

/dev/vx/dsk/rootdg/vol7 <--- char device
/dev/vx/rdsk/rootdg/vol7 <--- block device

Have you upgraded your VxVM at some stage?

Re: vxvm duplicate rdsk entries

This is analagous to what you would see for raw disks, i.e. /dev/rdsk/c0t6d0 and /dev/dsk/c0t6d0.
