I'm installing HPUX11i miminal
technical operating environment on a new c3650
workstation. By default it
installs Veritas Base package
and it says it can't be emoved. OK, so we aren't using Veritas Volume Manager,
but when the system boots it
gives the error "Volboot file
not loaded" and a few other
errors which are annoying to
see on the boot screens.
Can anyone tell me how to stop
the error messages (there are
error messages before the
rc boot screens as well, so
just taking out the /sbin/rcX.d/Sxxxx files
doesn't do everything), or should I just uninstall VXVM
once the system is up an
running. I am using MirrorDisk
to mirror the OS disks.
Thanks
Bill

Hi,
Could someone kindly post the link to the mentioned knowledge base above? I can't seem to find that in the Knowledge base. Thanks for the effort.

Re: VXVM Errors in HPUX11i
Hi,
Here is the document content:
PROBLEM:
Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) is installed but not used. How can the VxVM
daemons be prevented from starting at boot up?
RESOLUTION:
The VxVM daemons can be prevented from starting at boot up by running
touch /etc/vx/reconfig.d/state.d/install-db.
This existance of this file will prevent the VxVM start up scripts from running.

The computer is a great invention, there are as many mistakes as ever, but they are nobody's fault !
