Warning: Symmetrix device path unknown is currently dead
Hello.
I added six (6) new disk on a HP-UX UNIX system called db1004. I do a ioscan -fnC disk; insf -e; symcfg disco. So far so good.
After the command "powermt check force" I get the following messages:
[db1004]/var/tmp/prcm10_uitbr2008# powermt check force

Device 0430 is one of the new devices. See below the output of the syminq command:
[db1004]/var/tmp/prcm10_uitbr2008# syminq | grep 0430

How can I resolve the dead paths?

Re: Warning: Symmetrix device path unknown is currently dead
Hi Vreiks:
Please attach the exact ioscan after running either or both of these:
insf -e
ioscan -fnk
Please attach your pvdisplay -v for the PV that you're having problems with.
Based upon the message I'm wondering if its just an informational message stating that the device is not yet a part of any VG.

Re: Warning: Symmetrix device path unknown is currently dead
If the devices files are now gone then they will get stuck in powermt..
Sometimes a reboot will fix or I know for sure there is a method on EMC knowlege base that requires removing the powermt database and then rebuilding after reboot. Why not check there for EMC product issues ?

Only a reboot will solve this problem
