Webmin wu-ftp module is not working

Hi All,

My webmin server( on 11i) can not recognize WU-FTP server, it says like below:

"The FTP server /usr/contrib/wuftpd/usr/lbin/ftpd does not appear to be WU-FTPd. Maybe you are using an older FTPd provided with your operating system, or your FTP Server module configuration is in correct. The output from the FTP server was :
220 newweb.bttb.net FTP server (Revision 1.003 Version wuftpd-2.6.1 Thu Aug 7 07:01:04 GMT 2003) ready.
221 Goodbye."

Although my wu-ftp server is running on this server. I can download/upload files from cmd-line or using other ftp-client s/w.
Can you tell me why webmin can't locate the wu-ftp ver. of ftp?

Hello Richard,

Looks like you need to install the updated module for WU-FTP Server. Check out the foll. page and install the updated module.

Have you used webmin? How is it for remote users? What is the security concern if I give some user-access for my web clients through webmin?

There is a security concern with granting remote administrative priviledges to your web server via webmin or any other product.

You need to be picky about who gets how much access.

Hi SEP,

What is the general practice for web-clients. I have 2nd option: 'ftponly' group with false shell, but one thing cannot be done by 'ftponly' grp, web-client will not be able to change their passwd. But I like to give them that privilege, so thay can change their own passwd.
