John,

The puzzle is only my problem, in one word ENGLISH. It is sometimes darn hard to read technical info combined with humoristic answers.

Reading your answers not only improves me to learn HPUX , but also "I hope to say" understand and write English grammar better.

Friendly salute,

Robert-Jan.

Re: Welcome John Collier to Hogwarts

OK - JC,

I don't know, but I feel like my feelings have been hurt. No mention....sniff...sniff...
I guess IF I want your attention, I'll go for your weak spot or nail you like the ole dodge-ball days. Wait you MAY not be old 'nuff for that ;~P
Anyway - I'm just teasin'. I'll admit I did not post any deep thoughts in my congrats.
Just 'member that I'm of the cabal that *keeps* Pete humble (as is humanly possible for an ex-Marine...). Recall who gave him his most famous nickname to date - RPW. He still carries the badge proudly to date. So, keep up the great work - keep forumming - keep helping the newcomers & LET'S HAVE FUN.

Re: Welcome John Collier to Hogwarts

Robert-Jan,

If you were looking for a way to boost my ego even further, then you have found it. My wife isn???t a native English speaker either (she is one of the wonderfully beautiful ladies from Asia). I have spent a great many years helping her along with both her written and spoken English and to hear you say that my posts have assisted you in this makes me feel even better. Please don???t hesitate to ask for clarification on something that you read from me. I will do my best at any time to put it into the most basic English form as I can if you think it will help.

After all, you aren???t the only person out there that has English as a second language and if you don???t understand it then there are most likely many others out there that don???t either. It would help them all in the long run???

{skillfully avoiding Jeff yet one more time -- licking wounds is good for the soul ;-) }

Thank you, Zeev. The best of wishes from me to you as well???

PS. No points expected for this follow up post.

Re: Welcome John Collier to Hogwarts

Robert-Jan,

It's nice to hear someone acknowledge that the effort put in by a great many of the native english speakers to make their answers as readable as possible. John is one of the best, but I have to think that there are a lot more contributors that put some extra effort in: Clay; JRF; Harry; Patrick (possibly the "most deserving of recognition" of the bunch); Jeff; JP; and, of course, our honoree, Mr. Collier!! There are more that I'v noticed taking the extra effort to spell check, grammar check and common-sense check there answers as well as making sure they are technically correct. I salute you for recognizing John's efforts - he is definitely one of the best.

Re: Welcome John Collier to Hogwarts

Pete,

Are you trying to make me blush?

{It looks like I???m not the only one that thinks that licking wounds is good for the soul! Can???t believe that Steven is willing to sacrifice his perfect point assignment ratio just to ignore someone???s whines. I salute you! ;-) }

And that would be Monterey Jack, thank you very much.....

P.S. Looks like Pete - I don't give a damn that you don't want points - Randall's rubbing off on Steven. Lookout SEP that's a slippery slope for a good Jewish boy =~()

Re: Welcome John Collier to Hogwarts

Never seen the point in handing out zero points. I do it when promises or protocol requires, otherwise, what the heck.

A few points to those that have twice as many as I won't make it THAT much harder to catch up. I just want be good. I want more posts like what was in my congrats thread. Where I end up on the totem pole is fascinating.

I bet John ends up in the Dunes some day.

Re: Welcome John Collier to Hogwarts

Steven, Pete, John and all the others.

Pete you are right, I will try not to forget mentioning this in their new promotion thread. Knowing you a bit and myself even better, you will probably remind me in the near future. (:-)

Greetings to all of you and to your families.

Robert-Jan.
