What to obtain with used 9000 server

Hi:

Can I install 11.i version 1 on a used 9000 server without gotchas? I don't need codewords except for additional products, right? Any other problems like licenseing or system id?

Hi,

You can install 11i as listed in the matrix at this URL:

http://devrsrc1.external.hp.com/STK/serversupport.html

You will need codewords for any additional application software (Glance, MirrorDisk, compilers, etc). Other than that, you should be good to go.

Sure, I have installed 11i on old servers that are not officially 'supported' with HP's matrix too, like an old E45 box. Runs great.

What you need to obtain with the Server is the Right to Use License.

You need to have whomever you get the server from contact HP and transfer this from the previous owner to you.

At that point you can legally install and run the OS even in production.

When I purchased a used server last year, trading in an old one in the process, I had to fill out a "software license transfer request form" to transfer ownership of my old box. I dealt with the HPSLT department at 408-447-4185. Perhaps they can offer you some assistance.
