Re: when can't begin cde,(it prompt begin failsafe),where to begin to check error?

In the past I've had this problem when my hostname resolution was out of whack. If you're using DNS/hosts/NIS/NIS+/LDAP - check to make sure the local hostname is configured properly to resolve by both hostname and IP address. If you're using /etc/hosts, make sure the entry for the local system is correct there.

Dave

I would begin by going through the list of things suggested in this post, as this is a fairly comprehensive step-by-step list of things to check for CDE failsafe sessions:

If these steps don't work, please post any errors you found in the various logfiles (i.e. .dt/errorlog, syslog, etc.) during your investigation.
