SolutionI am doing well, everyway, all the time. Thanks for asking.
The Mark option does nothing but just marks the product to be installed or analysed.
This plays nice role when you have to install more than one product from a bundle. A selection can be made either to discard part of the product or include more product.
Cheers

Re: when I am swinstalling on hpux
could it be that you usually install only patches from depots?
With the "-x patch_match_target=true" option?
Then "mark" is actually not needed.
The same is true for bundles/products when you use the option "-x match_target=true".
But if you work without those options, i.e. to install something new, then you will have to "mark" what you want installed...
FWIW,
Wodisch

Re: when I am swinstalling on hpux
Yes means it has selected the whole software bundle. But if it says partial it has excluded few things which you can see if you go into its details. The partial selection can also mean that since its already there on depot.

Re: when I am swinstalling on hpux
if you are installing a single s/w then marking is not necessary, while installing multiple products by marking you can install those in one shot.
Partial mean, portion of that product already exist in the machine.
