Re: When will 10.20 be made obsolete
Hi:
I don't know about D-class server support -- I don't think anytime too soon, however.
As for 10.20, its days are numbered. It disappaears from the price list on 6/30/2002 and is obsoleted on 6/30/2003:

Re: When will 10.20 be made obsolete
HI:
This link will give you the 10.20 obsolescense:
http://www.software.hp.com/HPUX-RDMP/history/slide2.html
As far as I know and I have several D-boxes under maintenance no obsolescense date has been announced. I certainly have received no notification. I feel very confident that you've got at least 3 years of support left and probably 5 or more based upon HP's past patterns.
Regards, Clay

Solution
Hello
Here is an excerpt from an HP web page, which I read in August. I believe the link is now obsolete, but it gives some indication of HP's plans to discontinue the D-class server.
Regards ... Karl Berzins
from: http://www.hp.com/products1/unixservers/midrange/kclass/discontinuance.html
Effective 1-September-2001, the R-Class, D-Class and K-Class enterprise servers will no longer be available for purchase. Product development and enhancements to these systems will also be discontinued. The products will have the standard Hewlett-Packard support and spares provisioning for five years after the 1-September-2001 discontinuance date. We urge you to plan for the discontinuance and to make your final purchases as soon as possible.
HP-UX 10.20 CD kits and related applications will continue to be available until 30-June-2002. HP-UX 10.20 sales will be discontinued on that date. Normal support for 10.20 will be available until June 30, 2003.
HP 9000 R-class, D-class and K-class unix servers are available for purchase on a "first-ordered, first- fulfilled" basis until September 1, 2001. All grace periods are extended and final hardware purchases will be delivered by within 30 to 60 days from date of purchase. In the event inventory is depleted prior to September 1, 2001, a special notification will be posted to HP's unix servers web site.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for choosing Hewlett-Packard products and services.
