Hi,

This is a good one to start with:

http://www.docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/B2355-90672/B2355-90672.html

Also, when you buy new servers, HP will provide you good manuals for LVM.

Frankly speaking , we don't know how much you know.
Anyway, you can go to docs.hp.com and go to HP-UX System Administration. You will get most of the things over there and the rest you have to find out from your M/C.

The one that come close is an HP published book called "HP-UX 11i System Administration Handbook and Toolkit" which you can buy from any technical book store. I haven't seen a specific book on LVM subject alone.

Disk and File Management Tasks on Hp-Ux (Hewlett-Packard Professional Books)
by Tom Madell

Textbook Binding - 176 pages Facsimile edition (October 1996)
Prentice Hall; ISBN: 013518861X ; Dimensions (in inches): 0.58 x 8.95 x 6.95

It's older, but very, very good. I have a large PPT presentation on LVM that I can send you.

Re: Where can I find a good book about LVM?

OK.. when a support engineer came out to my site a year or so ago, he was carrying a little red handbook that looked to be full of lvm tricks. He told me that I wouldn't be able to acquire a copy but I think i've seen it around online recently. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Re: Where can I find a good book about LVM?

Hi Ian,

Yes, I've seen it.
The CEs call it their LVM "bible" or their "cheat-sheet". Contains almost all possible scenarios to replace then set up all diff kinds of disks in all diff HP-UX vers.
It's internal HP only - they won't even let you copy a page - let alone get a copy.
But they will let you look at it.
Looks to me to be a Word doc & the CE just puts it in whatever binder they wish.
I'd love to get a copy also - but I'm not holding my breath.

Cheers,
Jeff

From my point of view, the best one is HP training book:

Student Workbook, H3064S Student,

it is a good book for a beginner. But I am afraid of whether you can get it if you don't attend HP training. Check it out with your HP rep.

I'm sure I've seen it on the HP web site recently. I happenned upon it doing a search for vg00 limitiations I think, and in a PDF format. I foolishly didn't book mark it. Doh. It's worth the hunt. Just wish I had a few hours to kill.
