Re: Why haven't anti virus program for HP-Unix
So far we haven't ever worried about viruses on HP-UX systems. However, if your server acts as a file server, there are chances of file viruses from Windows world ! These can be in user directories (when user copy/ftp files from Windows workstations).
Mcafee has am antivirus software which you can installl in HP-UX and run from the command line. This software can be downloaded from www.mcafee.com. If you have a contract with Mcafee, they will give you more information about this.

SolutionGo to http://www.google.com
and search for 'unix anti virus'
without the quotes. There are quite a number of Unix ones that you can look at.
'Sophos' is one.

Re: Why haven't anti virus program for HP-Unix
TrendMicro is one good choice of anti-virus program for HP-UX.
http://www.hpworldmagazine.com/hpworldnews/hpw102/03esm.html
Extract:
"Trend Micro is working with HP on several fronts. In addition to technology support for HP-UX and HP OpenMail, the Trend Micro Virus Control System (TVCS) integrates with HP OpenView. In addition, Hansmann has been working with HP's channel people, and joint marketing activities continue to take place. An advertising and direct mail campaign recently marketed the HP-Trend Micro "dream team," with HP providing the platform and Trend Micro providing the antivirus product."
Hope this helps. Regards.

Re: Why haven't anti virus program for HP-Unix
Usually, viruses are merely related to Windows. However, more often, viruses pass by Unix servers 'disguised' as e-mails. There are already some anti-viruses that work co-related with sendmail. Some of them:
AVP: http://www.avp.ch
or
http://www.ecroz.cz/~reho/check_virus/ - AVP patch
AMAVIS: http://www.amavis.org
SOPHOS: http://www.sophos.com
Take a look at this too:
