Win2000 mount - permissions changing!
All,
I have a strange one here, at least strange to my IT dept.
I'm NFS mounting a Win2000 share on my HP-UX box (10.20), fully patched with Dec 2001 releases.
When moving a file (mv) from the HP-UX box across the NFS mount to the Win box, permissions change from 644 to 004. umask is 022.
I've contacted HP under support agreement, and reviewing the trace logs, etc, they are convinced that the HP box is working as expected, and the NT box is changing the permissions.
Problem is there are some Solaris boxes and one Linux box in the company. None of these boxes are having the problem.
Hummingbird, recommended by HP, is the UNIX emulation package being used on the Win2000 box. We called Hummingbird, and they set up a fully patched 10.20 box and said there are no problems.
Has anyone seen this????

Re: Win2000 mount - permissions changing!
I've never seen it, but then again since samba was available I haven't screwed with NFS especially to/from a M$ box.
With samba you do not need NFS on your M$ box.
BTW, the issue is probably a Hummingbird issue.

Re: Win2000 mount - permissions changing!
I have seen this not just with Hummingbird, but NFS Maestro, Reflections, etc...
Because I have seen this problem with any emulator I have touched, I am not sure if it's a emulator problem or a M$ problem, but got tired of trying to debug them.
Hence, SAMBA and LINUX have cured most of my M$ NT(not tested) problems.
Regards,
Shannon
