with vpars cpu numbering not sequential
We have created 2 vpars, from part of a "top" output below, we found that cpu numbering is not sequential on each vpar. The other one has a numbering of 0 5 6 7... DBAs are informing that Oracle expects sequntial numbering of CPUs. Is anyone aware of this issue.. It does not sound like a showstopper, but just want to make sure. Thanks, Ed.

Re: with vpars cpu numbering not sequential
It does make no sense that oracle expects sequntial numbering of CPUs. I dont know how top utility assigns CPU number, but it is certain it is not coming from hp-ux's ioscan instance number of the CPU or HW/Path of cpu.

Ask your DBAs to point you to the Oracle documentation that states this (I suspect they won't be able to as Oracle DBs are fully supported in vPars).
The *only* issue I'm aware of that you need to watch for in vPars with Oracle is if you are using Cell Local Memory (CLM) in a dynamic vPar. In this situation you need to be careful that you make sure you never remove all the CPUs in a locality domain from which Oracle uses CLM.
The CPU numbering is irrelevant to Oracle.
