wrong group membership with ssh login
I've got a problem when I log in with ssh from a windows client (putty). My user does not get the group membership it does when I log in through telnet.
eg:
$ id
uid=106(applprpd) gid=102(dba)
su - applprpd
$ id
uid=106(applprpd) gid=102(dba) groups=20(users)
I assume the dba group membership is retained because it is the primary group rather than being specified in /etc/group.
This is on OpenSSH_2.5.1p1.
Has anybody come across this? (or maybe I just need to get a later version of ssh)
eg:
$ id
uid=106(applprpd) gid=102(dba)
su - applprpd
$ id
uid=106(applprpd) gid=102(dba) groups=20(users)

You could try newer versions:
http://hpux.cs.utah.edu/hppd/hpux/Networking/Admin/openssh-3.6.1p1/
or
http://www.software.hp.com/cgi-bin/swdepot_parser.cgi/cgi/displayProductInfo.pl?productNumber=T1471AA
live free or die

I agree with Harry,

Lets just make sure we don't have a problem with /etc/passwd
I'd like to know if this always happened or came about recently.
