wrong IP address for printer

I have a network printer on my system that all information I can see is correctly configured, but when I look in the log file, I can see the request is going to the wrong IP address.

I've verified the IP address where the requests should be going...all configurations look correct. I've reviewed documentation but haven't found any other places where I need to change IP addresses.

Can someone suggest a site that would have a comprehensive checklist?

Re: wrong IP address for printer

does the printer have a DNS/NIS entry, or perhaps is setup in /etc/hosts incorrectly?

Re: wrong IP address for printer

Hi Joe,

As a starting place, does nslookup printer_name return the correct IP address? If not:

check /etc/hosts for multiple entries for the printer
check what DNS or NIS thinks the IP address is

Re: wrong IP address for printer

Hi Joe,

I think you'll have to reconfigure the printer with the new ip address.

Hope this helps.

Re: wrong IP address for printer

Or maybe the printer has DHCP that is not registered with DNS.
