Xterm forwarding from HP UX server
I have got an issue with a HP UX server that is on a private network protected by firewall in my organization. I access this server using secureID fob provided to me. Recently I received a request from some members within my organization to access the server. These members do not have secureID fob so they can not connect to the private network and so the HP UX server. But they told me I could logon to the server with my login and secureID fob and forward xterm window to them. Being completely new to this way of accessing the server, can some one explain me how to do this? Greatly appreciate your assistance.

Re: Xterm forwarding from HP UX server
Unless there is an established VPN Tunnel between the server and one who wants to see an x-application, like xterm, on their screen, you can not push it.
I amn ot sure why you need a securID token to access this but it sounds more like the sloppiness of your network team. We have the same secure zones in our network with very limited access through few difeerent ports. One of these ports is port 22 where we can run ssh over it. Then use ssh tunneling to display X-applications.
What you are looking for, i.e forwarding an xterm to an unauthenticated IP address is impossible, as far as I know. Unless of course your firewalls have funky configuration rules, coming in vs. going out.

Re: Xterm forwarding from HP UX server
Shalom,
ssh -X hostname:/command
Might work.
IF this is a normal VPN there is a software or hardware token you can use on the connecting pc.
server to server, you do have a problem. It is a problem you solve by properly configuring the firewall, not the OS
