DL380 G5 + Redhat Enterprise 2.1 AS

Is it possible to run Redhat enterprise linux 2.1 AS on a HP Proliant DL380 G5? Are there storage and nic drivers around or will the enterprise linux 3 drivers work?

It might be possible to get it to work, but I doubt it would be a supported solution.

Summary: No.

The OS is out of support and Red Hat did not teste the OS on this hardware. I doubt HP did either, since they normally only test their hardware with certified OS's

I had it running until recently (1 year ago or so) on DL380 G3 using RH 2.1 AS. So, the answer is, maybe or probably maybe. It might work, and then again, it might choke on some of the newer hardware. If you've found drivers for everything and stick those CDs in when prompted, you might get it going. I'm thinking that if you're installing an OS this old, then you're not looking for supportability anyways - so why not try it? If you go for minimal install, it will only take about an hour of your time to find out!
