Hard drive serial number with System Management Homepage

Hello,

I'm using a Proliant DL 385  G7 with a RHEL6. HPSim 7 is installed.

I'm trying to get the serial number of the server hard drives;  i reached it through  the System Management Homepage (home - storage - controller SmartArray p410i) but it seems some characters are added in the serial number field.

For instance, let's assume my serial number is AC51DC239867 (by memory ;)) , the serial number field is  AC51DC2398671212...

(i have that problem on all server drives, but not always the same characters added)

Is it a kind of padding, because of some character set ? Or do these numbers have real meaning ?

Thanx for your help,

Jean

Have you tried using hpacucli from the command line to see what it reports for the serial numbers?

Re: Hard drive serial number with System Management Homepage

hpacucli gives the same result than System Management Homepage ...

However i've watched the hard drive itself and the last numbers are not written

Re: Hard drive serial number with System Management Homepage

I have 2 servers, it's the same for the 2 disks of each servers.

But for our blades BL460c G7, the serial numbers indicated in SMH & hpacucli are the good ones (same as written on disk)...

Re: Hard drive serial number with System Management Homepage

with hpacucli, i can see, in the drives information output (with command : controller serialnumber=BLA physicaldrive BLA:BLO:BLU show), that the firmware revision is different

on servers (where i have the problem)

Firmware Revision : HPD4

on blades(where the information is correct)

Firmware Revision : HPD6

Maybe the revision HPD4 isn't ok ?
